To better understand and study the habitat, seasonal population characteristics, and food sources of the Saunders’s Gull (Saundersilarus saundersi) for more effective protection of this endangered species, the Yancheng Wetland and Natural World Heritage Conservation and Management Center formulated the “Yancheng Saunders’s Gull Special Survey Plan” in 2024. In collaboration with Yancheng Institute of Technology and the Yancheng Birdwatching Association, surveys were conducted during the gull’s wintering and breeding seasons, focusing primarily on nest surveys and dietary analysis.
